Over the years Link has made a continuous effort to improve the engagement we have with the communities in the areas we work. We have delivered and participated in a number of community-based events. Over the last few years, we have had the honour to partner with Latics Community Fund. Yesterday we had the opportunity to further our partnership by attending the mornings Club Connect event hosted by Latics Community Fund and Warriors in the community, merging our towns two great sports teams.
It was a morning full of positivity and warmth as we heard accounts from those who access the services that the charities provide, including 92 year old Dennis, who attends the ‘Extra Time Club’ known locally as ‘youth club for aging residents’ where he has had the opportunity to rock climb, zip line and even complete a sky dive. While not all services provided are as outgoing and adrenaline seeking as the ones Dennis uses, they all provide a lifeline for local people, be it helping young people get on the right path, or providing holiday camps for parents to support with childcare in the school holidays, they are all fundamentals of what it means to be a community.
We are honoured to offer our continued support to both Latics and Warriors as they continue to make our home town, the best it truly can be.
