If you are an avid follower of our news, you're probably down with the fact that we love nothing more than celebrating, our people, our achievements and supporting our charities. That being said, we had a special anniversary this month and got to celebrate one of our OG engineers Ray Makin. Ray has spent a decade with the company and continued his tenure following a move down south, a well loved and valued member of the team, nothing is ever too much trouble.
Our MD Phil took a trip over to visit Ray on site in Skegness to present him with a long service award, a bottle of fizz and a voucher as a thankyou for his hard work and dedication over the years. We asked Ray a few hard hitting (outstanding journalism) questions about his time with the business and if he could offer any advice on someone starting with the company, check out Ray's interview below.
Thank you Ray for all of your hard work and dedication, we are beyond proud to have you as an integral cog within #teamlink
What’s your favourite thing about working at Link?
Works are varied so everyday is different.
How has Link helped you develop over the last 10 years?
It’s broadened my skills as I was previously a maintenance joiner, but i now do fire extinguishers and that’s massively different from the day to day maintenance.
What advice would you give someone on their first day at Link?
Take every day as it comes, don’t jump to conclusions. Do the job as it’s given to you and keep your head down it will help you get along!
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years with Link
Maybe as a lead tech, as I would be able to offer advice and support to other engineers. But I would still like to be working on sites doing the jobs.
