Project Overview:
Following contract award, Link Contracting were awarded the contract to refurbish two toilet blocks and the remodelling of the infant’s classroom. The full extent of the works carried out listed below;
- Isolate existing services and strip out existing toilet area including toilets, wash hand basins, cubicles, doors etc.
- Existing vinyl sheet flooring to be removed.
- Existing suspended ceilings to be removed and new installed.
- Fans removed, cleaned and connected back up to existing ductwork
- New LED lighting fitted.
- Supply and lay new floor finishes, Whiterock to walls and decoration.
- Supply and fit new toilet cubicles and vanity units.
- Supply and fit toilets (8nr) and wash troughs (4nr).
- New IPS units.
- Supply and fit safety mirrors.
- All existing services to modified to suit new installs.
- Wall knock through to amalgamate two classrooms.
- Breakout areas formed with new carpeted flooring and new dwarf walls forming.
- All new vinyl flooring throughout.
- Decoration to existing and new surfaces.
Challenge:
This project presented several key challenges:
- Programme: Given that these works were required to be carried out during the summer holidays, careful planning of each trade was key to ensure the project was completed on time and to a high standard as clients have come to expect from Link.
- Changes in products requested: Over the years, Link Contracting have carried out many washroom upgrades, with this scheme, slightly different specification products were requested by the client to deliver an ‘on brand’ finish for the school. These products posed several challenges, and careful consideration was needed to ensure the school’s vision was executed perfectly by Link. Close communications between the onsite, management and client’s design team was key in achieving this
Results:
Link Contracting successfully delivered the project on time, within budget, and without any accidents or incidents. Our client was delighted with the end results, and they expressed eagerness for the children to return after the summer holidays to see their new facilities.
