As part of Deyes High School’s on-going estate management and curriculum improvements they are carrying out refurbishment, upgrade and extension works to their site and buildings. This project comprises the construction of a new Sixth Form extension to the existing World at Work Building (Blundell Building 2), demolition of the prefabricated Blundell Building 1 and associated external works.
The works involved the construction of a new 800m² 2 storey building to form a new sixth form extension which was constructed onto the existing world of work block. The height of the new building was to match the existing and will be constructed over previously developed land. The new extension will be used for sixth form students as teaching areas, study space, IT zones, student common room and staff offices.
The full demolition of the existing 385m² single storey modular building forming the business studies block. The accommodation will be fully demolished to remove the poor condition accommodation and the space will be converted into an external social space.
